GREEN SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

St. Joseph's Mercy Primary School are involved in the Green Schools Programme this year.

Each month we try to do something positive to improve our school environment and increase the amount of material we reuse or recycle.

In
November we set up our committee.

In
December we had an art competition.
Each class was asked to design a recycling poster for their class bin. We had winners in 10 classes. The winning posters are on display on the school website.

Our
January activity was to design a poster for the class showing what items can be recycled in our class bins and what items can't.

Our
February activity is a recycling experiment. Each class from 2nd to 6th has been given a special bin for collecting yoghurt cartons. The Green School Committee members in each class will wash them out. When they are clean they are put into the recycling bin.
